Hello Matrix Blog Readers,
My name is Jessica Carchia and I am a Marketing student at Elon University. I recently wrapped up my internship at Matrix Applications and it has been one of the most formative and memorable experiences I’ve had in my professional journey so far.
I chose Matrix Applications because I wanted an internship that would expose me to the world of fintech while allowing me to grow both personally and professionally. After learning about Matrix Applications, I knew it would be the ideal environment to gain hands-on experience in marketing within the financial services and technology space.
I was excited by the chance to contribute to meaningful projects, learn from experienced professionals and gain a deeper understanding of how marketing/sales supports complex financial technology solutions. I wanted to be a part of a tight-knit team where my work created meaningful value. I felt supported from the start and I know I made the right choice.
One major takeaway from my internship at Matrix Applications was the development of my professionalism. I learned that it isn’t just about what you know or who you know. Rather, it is about how you show up every day. I’ve always believed that first impressions are extremely powerful and the first 30 seconds of meeting someone can not only shape how you are perceived, but also the opportunities that lie ahead your career journey.
Being in a professional business environment for the first time gave me the chance to see this in action. I learned that being reliable, asking thoughtful questions, listening actively and carrying yourself with intention creates a lasting impression and personal fulfillment. Throughout the internship, I learned how much relationship-building matters, whether it’s during team meetings, networking events or one-on-one chats. I discovered the value of showing up authentically with curiosity.
I worked with the Marketing Team and was mentored by Colleen Judge and worked closely alongside Wimie Hsieh. They made a lasting impact on my experience here at Matrix Applications.
Notably, Colleen played a key role in helping me grow personally and professionally. She saw potential in me from the very beginning and made sure to create meaningful opportunities that aligned with my interests while also pushing me out of my comfort zone to support a growth-focused experience. Her willingness to lead with authenticity was inspiring. She offered me guidance, pushed me to my full potential and consistently created valuable opportunities. Her leadership, along with the innate welcoming culture at the company, made me feel supported and respected while also challenging me in ways that fostered my growth.
As I return to Elon University in the Fall to complete my Senior year, I look forward to my next challenge where I'll bring the advice, skills and confidence gained from my 2025 Summer Internship at Matrix Applications!
