Matrix Applications is excited to announce that we wrapped up our office food drive in collaboration with our affiliates, South Street Securities and AmeriVet Securities. We’d like to thank our employees and partners for their overwhelming contribution to help eliminate hunger and reduce food waste. As our latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiative, this event gave us the opportunity to give back to our community by donating to New York Common Pantry.
We raised over 150 different food items, spanning from canned beans and pasta to soup and vegetables. Hosting an office food drive was our team’s way of making a tangible difference by banding together. The joint initiative across companies was organized by Colleen Judge, Head of Marketing and Communications, and Wimie Hsieh, Marketing Intern. We are grateful to everyone who donated and hope this contribution helped New York Common Pantry’s mission to help alleviate food insecurity.
"I am thrilled to kickoff our first company-wide food drive and make it an annual tradition. Giving back to our community is an important part of our company values and we believe that small acts of kindness can make a big impact in the lives of those in need,” shared Colleen Judge, Head of Marketing and Communications.
At Matrix, we recognize the value of organizing an office food drive not only as a way to give back to the community, but also as a way to build camaraderie and strengthen our team. We encourage other companies to consider similar initiatives as part of their own ESG programs.
“Organizing the food drive was an incredibly rewarding experience and it was inspiring to work alongside a team that is passionate about giving back to the community,” commented Wimie Hsieh, Marketing Intern.
If you're interested in organizing a food drive at your office, there are many resources available to help you get started. Food banks like New York Common Pantry are often eager to accept in-kind donations and can provide guidance on what types of food are most needed. With a little planning and coordination, your office can make a real difference in the lives of people in your community.
The New York Common Pantry offers a variety of programs to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the community, with a whole-person approach that goes beyond just providing food. The organization offers nutritious food packages, hot meals and supplemental food for seniors. They provide case management services to help visitors gain access to resources and connect homeless individuals to resources through Project Dignity. The organization also offers case management services to address the root causes of food insecurity and education through their Live Healthy! program, which teaches children and adults about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.
