In celebration of “Earth Month,” Matrix Applications is excited to announce its continued partnership with Evertreen, an online platform that allows individuals and companies to plant trees worldwide, track them via satellite and help offset our carbon footprint. The platform’s satellite tracking allows for continuous updates on growth status, nitrogen concentration, photosynthetic activity, soil conditions and more.

By working with Evertreen’s extensive network of 3,000+ local farmers in 12 countries worldwide, the firm aims to fight deforestation and promote habitat protection. In addition to supporting the environment, the firm takes this as an opportunity to contribute to achieving several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), such as:

• SDG 13: Climate Action - Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
• SDG 15: Life on Land - Trees provide habitat for wildlife, prevent soil erosion, and promote biodiversity.
• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production - Trees can be used sustainably for timber, paper, and other products, reducing the need for deforestation.
• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation - Trees help to filter water and prevent soil erosion, leading to cleaner water.
• SDG 1: No Poverty - Planting trees can provide income and livelihood opportunities for local communities through sustainable forestry practices and eco-tourism.
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities - Trees in urban areas can help to reduce the urban heat island effect, provide shade and improve air quality.
  

Matrix’s parent company, South Street Securities Holdings, partnered with Evertreen to further its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives by planting 1,200 trees in Honduras in 2022 on behalf of employees and customers. This year, the firm donated an additional 4,000 trees in Kenya, contributing 780 tons of carbon absorption. These trees can be tracked on South Street’s Evertreen Forest here.
